My home away from home. It had been almost 3 years since the last time all 8 of us made it down to Guatemala. Some might know already but I’m Guatemalan. Well… only like 1/3 but my Father’s family is all in Guatemala. His father and his brothers and sisters, our cousins. There’s over 30 of us when we are in Guatemala with them!
I met my family when I was 6 years old back on our first trip down in 1995. Our time spent with out family is always too short. Its over with before we even know it. This trip was an extra special trip as my cousin Pamela was getting married to her love, Ivan! We were all so excited to be able to witness her marriage and I was super stoked to see the traditions of a wedding in another country! It was a blast! But before I get ahead of myself, as always, this is only Part I, our first two days in Guatemala. The first day is always spent saying our hellos and getting settled into our little cabin. My cousin, Ale, who was also our translator and tour guide haha, took us to a beautiful shopping area in Guatemala City so that we could get some shoes for Braden and some food in our bellies. The rest of the gang opted for some shots but I’m not much of a liquor gal so I passed on that affair. This place was gorgeous and had a stellar view! It was a day well spent!
My beautiful grandmother, Silvia, peeping out of her kitchen window.
some of the gang.
A little look around town.
