Ahh, Athens! Seriously one of my favorite cities! From the moment we arrived to our Hostel, I knew I would love this city. The locals were so welcoming! Randomly asking where we were from and telling us to enjoy their city. I could have stayed in Athens an extra day or two.
Our Hostel was conveniently only two blocks away from Acropolis so we did the usual tourist duty and headed to the top. The little greek mythology nerd inside me was super excited to see where all of my favorite stories stemmed from! From Zeus to Hercules to Xena to God of War haha! All kidding aside, this city is oozing with charm and a good time! All of the bars and cafes were super friendly and their beer, Mythos, DELICIOUS! I really loved our Hostel, Athens Backpackers! The elevator was adorable and the roof top bar was super laid back and held the best view of Acropolis ever. Take me back!
Graffiti was EVERYWHERE. It reminded me alot of Copenhagen. It adds a lot of character to a city if you ask me.
Our first day in Santorini was incredible! By the end of the day, Val and I felt like we had already been there for two days. Our flight landed on the island at 6 am so we had plenty of time for exploring. We weren’t able to check into our hostel until 12 so we dropped our bags off and walked down to the beach. The beaches of Perissa all have umbrellas/lounge chairs that are rented out during the day- we were there so early that we were able to take a nap on the loungers while the island was still waking up.
When we woke up, we still had a few hours until we could check in so we walked next door to Marks Bikes and rented two atv’s! They say its the best way to explore the island and it really was! We had rented the 80cc atvs and let me tell ya, when you’re a plus sized girl and you have large hills to go up, I recommend getting an atv with a more powerful engine! haha People drive a little crazy on the island but its still the best thing we did! We ended up having atv’s for three days that we were there. So freeing riding around the island with the wind in your hair and sun burning your skin! We rode down to Oia and back around the island. Finding a cute beach back through what appeared to be mountains with caves through out. I fell in love with this place instantly.
hahaha, 10 points if you can see what I did there.
haha. I wasn’t picking a wedgie. I was just pulling the shorts down from them riding up a bit. I guess thats the same thing though so but it makes me laugh.
I never said my friends were normal.
