I’ve been a little late on sharing my journey to my first Caribbean island, Antigua! I was super excited as I was traveling to this small island nation for the first time and to shoot a beautiful elopement! My couple ended up missing their original flight the same day so my plans changed a little bit. I ended up having the rest of my first day and a full day all to myself to relax and enjoy all the caribbean had to offer me!
I was staying at the
Jolly Beach Resort & Spa and rumor has it, that its the best beach on the island! I could be slightly biased, but I want to say thats 100 and 10% accurate! I mean super soft, powder like sand and water so blue it was jaw dropping! There was so much color and life every where! I loved all of the island vibes! There were even these super cute little weasels that were around the resort. I was in heaven!
I spent my first day wandering around my resort and getting myself familiar with my surroundings. And I droned. I droned a lot haha. One downfall to a resort is how MASSIVE they are! It takes 10 minutes just to walk to the restaurants or front desk. But I did take full advantage of the all-inclusive aspect to my resort! Fruity drinks and all the food I want! Winning! After dang near getting lost around the resort, I made myself extra comfortable on the beach and watched the sun set.
Most of the next day I spent on the water and only had cell phone photos and GoPro photos. It was seriously the best day! I rented a jet ski and had the time of my life admiring the beauty of the island from afar. It was so amazing that I even put money down to rent the jet ski again later in the day. After my first jet ski ride, I signed up for a free hobie catamaran lesson. The guide ended up just taking me and another lady on an epic ride around to different coves and even to a reef. It was perfection. Unfortunately, on my second jet ski ride, I ended up flipping my jet ski in the middle of the water, far out of ear sight of anyone and the dry box didn’t actually keep anything dry inside. Bye bye cell phone and all of my photos, videos and memories =/ Lesson learned, stick to the waterproof items only!
The next day was Mike + Brittanys wedding day and it was literally, perfect! We may have all been a hot sweaty mess but these two had us all in happy tears the moment Mike laid eyes on his bride. You can see more of their wedding day
here. They were staying at the resort right next door to mine called CocoBay Resort & Spa. It was gorgeous and definitely honeymoon worthy! These two had their own private bungalow with the prettiest view of the harbor.
I didn’t do too much on this trip as my main priority was to relax before Mike + Brittany’s wedding so most of these are from my resort and their resort. But to finish this little share off, I will leave you with the few snippets from my GoPro (which I really need to update) and my video montage of my time in Antigua. It was heavenly and so, SO cheap! I definitely want to go back!
my fun little antigua jammer.
