This trip was one for the books.  With the drastic changes my life took over this summer,  I had a 4 day window in October and I wanted to take that time to drive up to Maine and recharge myself after an already crazy fall season.  My good friend Lindsey came along with me and we made a mini girls trip of it!  It was perfect. Nothing too crazy or over the top, just a simple trek up the coast with mini stops along the way!

We left around 8:30 in the morning on Sunday and started our trek up to New York City!  We both aren’t the biggest city fans so we decided to make it a quick stop to walk around Brooklyn in dumbo.  A real goal was to go to the infamous DŌ Cookie Dough Confections over in lower Manhattan to stuff my face with edible cookie dough.  We arrived at the perfect time because shortly after we arrived, the line was across the street.  The 20-30 minute wait in line was totally worth it.  My little thing of cookie dough lasted me the entire trip and it was a perfect snack after long days of driving and exploring.

2017-10-30_0094.jpg After New York City we made way to our airbnb in Newport Rhode Island.  We knew we would be arriving after dark but wanted to see the sunrise over the ocean so we rose early to drive past the prettiest mansions and caught the prettiest sunrise. Between the guy playing catch with his dog and the sea gulls flying around or the fog rolling off the ocean, Im not sure how much more perfect it could be.

2017-10-30_0120.jpgAfter spending the morning watching the sun rise, we hit the road for a foggy drive up the coast to the beginning of the infamous Cape Cod.  We didn’t have time to drive to the end of the cape, but we already talked about making a separate trip to make it happen, we drove to Chatham.  The CUTEST nautical town with the prettiest beaches.  We wandered down to the beach and I did a little drone flying before we had breakfast at the Captains table.  The sweetest little old man, who joked with us about his painted toe nails from a lost bet, recommended the diner to us.  It was delicious!

2017-10-30_0104.jpg The next stop of our trip was a MUST!  We were going to be driving through Boston and had enough time to make a few quick stops in the infamously witchy town of Salem Massachusetts!  I never realized how adorable the town itself is but lordy, it was super cute!  There looked like there was a buzzing town center so I hope to one day go back and really check the town out.  We had other things on hand.  We were on a mission to see the infamous house of Dani + Max Dennison!  It was super easy to find and the neighbor actually told us that we were there perfect timing,  apparently the night before there were about 150 people outside the home.  I feel bad for the folks that live there. ha!  We even stopped at the Ropes Mansion which they turned into a museum.

2017-10-30_0113.jpg We arrived to Portland a bit ahead of schedule which was perfect because it gave us time to relax and check into our airbnb.  We had a hot date with a super cute couple for a quick engagement celebration at Two Lights Park!  This park is beautiful and probably one of my favorite parks just outside of Portland.  Last time I was here I was super jealous of a photographer who was having a session so I am so happy I was finally able to make that happen!  Roddy even gifted me with the best local beer.  Super smooth and tasty!

The next day we were onward for Acadia!  We were going to spend the day driving up route 1 to see some of that beautiful coast and those adorable quaint little towns while we made our way to Acadia National Park.  It was a glorious day!  Lots of rock scrambling and beach hopping!  It was perfection!  The fall foliage in Maine is insane! Its so thick, lush and vibrant!  Im not sure how Ill ever appreciate a fall in Maryland again after seeing all of that color!

We spent the night in the coolest tent ever! A full on glamping experience!  I loved it! Even though it was super cold and SUPER windy outside, it was nice and cozy in the tent!  We even had a compost toilet so it made things convenient! I wanna go back and camp out for an entire week in this perfect little spot just outside of Bar Harbor! 2017-10-30_0185.jpg2017-10-30_0186.jpg

And of course, our little video log of our trip too! =D
